TO BE HARD AND SOFT AT THE SAME TIME, NO. 1

This is the first of a series of work that confronts the question “how does one be soft and hard at the same time?”. This question relates to the need for both fragility and strength: as emotional beings, as caretakers for the earth, as women creating space in male-dominated environments; as lovers, as friends, as leaders, as creators.

2 yards of cloth was woven on a rigid heddle loom, and sewn into the form of a rock. This form was filled with sand. The sand slowly leaks through the loosely woven cloth.
